Diapers, Doodles, and Deep Dives: Journaling for the New Mama

Hey there, newbie mommy! If your life lately seems like a whirlwind of feedings, diaper changes, and precious (but oh-so-rare) moments of sleep, you're in the right place. Let’s add a twist to this new-mom cocktail: Journaling. Before you exclaim, "One more thing to do?!", hear me out. This isn’t another chore; it’s a lifeline!

1. Why Journal, You Ask?

Between burping and bathing, your mind is filled with a million thoughts and feelings. Journaling isn’t just about recording baby’s firsts; it’s also about mom's millionth thought (or so it feels) of the day. It’s therapy, minus the bills.

2. No Rules, Just Write

Your journal doesn't care if you write in perfect prose or hurried scribbles. Heck, it can even be a drawing or a sticker. It’s not an English exam; it’s an emotional outlet. Would you put that pressure on your kiddo?

3. Spill the Beans (or the Milk)

Had a day when you accidentally used baby lotion as conditioner? Jot it down! These funny and real moments make for great tales later on. Don't be so hard on yourself!

4. Affirmations and Dreams

Some days, motherhood feels like you’re nailing it; on others, it feels like you're coming apart at the seams. Use your journal to write affirmations or hopes for yourself and your little one. You're allowed to have dreams, if you needed to be reminded 👀

5. Quick Tips for the Busy Bee

- Digital Diva: If pen and paper sound ancient, digital journaling apps are at your rescue.

- Voice Notes: Can't spare a hand? Whisper sweet nothings (or exhausted everythings) into your phone's voice recorder. I suggest Otter.Ai if you want something more in-depth!

- Photo Diary: Sometimes, a picture says it best. Click and paste. I do this for my pain diary.

6. It's a Date (With Yourself)

Set aside just five minutes (Yes, those rare 5 minutes of peace) daily, or even weekly. It’s your self-appointed me-time. And don't be a Grinch about it, IYKYK.

7. Looking Back

One day, when your tiny tot isn’t so tiny anymore, this journal will be a treasure trove of memories, emotions, and experiences.

Motherhood is messy, marvelous, exhausting, and exhilarating. And while you're busy creating a beautiful world for your little one, your journal becomes a space for you to breathe, reflect, and be. So, new mamas, grab that pen or phone, and let the journey (and journaling) begin!
